Do it! After you see the story of adventure biking through the Sahara desert (coming as soon...ish to fieldmag.com) I have a feeling you'll be searching flights asap! Right up your alley
haha oh man I was able to put the big blue rug (rolled up and bound tight like a giant 20 lb tootsie roll) in my cardboard bike box, along with most of the clothes from my duffel bag. I then put the smaller rug (rolled up like a cannon ball) in the duffel carry on. These rug dealers are PRO at folding and wrapping in paper and twine—they also offer some plasticy material like tyvek—to make travel easy. I probably coulda checked them as-is, too, but didn't want to risk them disappearing btwn connecting flights. Thankful for the bike box, that's for sure.
Heck yeah this was a fun read. Made me want to visit Morocco and get a rug. Hassan sounds awesome

Did you ship it home or load that thing in a Bellroy Venture Duffle and carry it on haha?
Great story thanks for sharing!

Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you get to Morocco and have your own rug (and bike) adventure someday too!
